Giving Back
Electronic Symphonia distinguishes itself as a non-profit organization committed to giving back to the community. This orchestra goes beyond the realms of artistic innovation by actively contributing to social causes and community development.
Your donation opens doors for aspiring musicians who face financial barriers. You help provide real essentials — an instrument to practice on, a workshop seat, or tuition for a performance program. 🎻
Every contribution to Electronic Symphonia supports concrete opportunities: instruments in young hands, focused coaching, and chances to perform on stage. 🎵 Thank you for standing behind emerging artists as they grow in skill, confidence, and creativity.
A portion of every donation raised by Electronic Symphonia flows directly to the ConocoPhillips Hub at the Werklund Centre, supporting arts education and community engagement. Additional portions support Electronic Symphonia Workshops, Youth Orchestra operations and other community initiatives — ensuring your generosity reaches verified institutions dedicated to nurturing creativity and learning.
Financial barriers shouldn't determine who gets to play. We provide subsidized workshop seats, and performance program tuition to ensure talented young musicians can participate regardless of their family's economic situation.
Our flagship youth program brings together emerging musicians for rigorous ensemble training, blending classical orchestral discipline with the energy of modern electronic composition. Young artists receive coaching, performance experience, and mentorship from professional musicians.
Our outreach initiatives bring live performances and music education into schools, community centres, and underserved neighbourhoods — cultivating audiences and artists alike for the next generation of music lovers.
A passionate advocate for arts education and community development, our Chair brings decades of leadership experience to the Foundation, guiding our strategic direction and charitable partnerships.
Known for his collaborative leadership style and entrepreneurial mindset, Mike combines operational discipline with creative vision. Mike built the orchestra from the ground up — merging classical instrumentation with modern electronic music to create immersive live experiences that unite music, technology, fashion, and philanthropy.
Mike drives every aspect of Electronic Symphonia's creative direction and organizational growth, from landmark orchestral EDM performances and fundraising galas to the education and mentorship programs that support the next generation of emerging musicians.
A professional musician and educator, our Artistic Programs Director shapes the curriculum and performance opportunities at the heart of the Electronic Symphonia. A violinist trained at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music, Mount Royal University Conservatory, and the University of Calgary, Joshua's distinguished journey includes serving as concertmaster of the Surrey Symphony Youth Orchestra, performing his own composition at Jack Singer Concert Hall, and studying under some of Canada's most respected coaches.
Joshua participated in the ASTA conference in Pittsburgh to deepen his pedagogical practice and shares a reflection of his belief that with hard work and dedication, everyone can learn and enjoy the violin.
An award-winning Calgary-based violinist, composer, and educator, James holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Calgary.
As a full-time freelance musician he co-founded various musical groups and presented at the 9th Jazz Futures conference in Amsterdam. His orchestral credits include Principal Second of the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster of the Key 30 Orchestra, and section member of the Juno-nominated Orchestre de la Francophonie.
With over 20 years behind the decks, Joel brings deep roots in the EDM world to the Electronic Symphonia board.
A seasoned DJ who has performed at major festivals including Chasing Summers, Joel has also opened for some of the biggest names in electronic music — Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, Sander Van Doorn, MaRLo, Ruben de Ronde, Kyau & Albert, Andrew Rayel, and many more. His expertise in electronic music culture and live performance helps shape the unique fusion at the heart of what we do.
